Guns: Do We Really Need Them?

On 10:40pm Sunday night a police officer shot dead a 40 year old male who was suspected for driving with stolen license plates. He pulled out a knife to the officer and the officer shot him dead claiming it was "self defense". Three gunshots were heard by nearby by residents in the area. The Assistant commissioner commented that "He'd been in the highway patrol for a while and he certainly knew what he was doing,"

I don't think that police officers should have armed weapons on them, when an officer shoots down a person it is seen as
"perfectly fine" and just "doing their job" but for others it is a jail sentence.. The people that have been shot by police had families and jobs and a home and had a right to speak up for themselves before they were shot. Police shouldn't have the right to shoot a person on the spot without a proper reason. Police have too much authority over peoples lives and should not have a firearm on them at all times. Instead they should have tranquilizers or tazers or some other device to immobilize them for a short while so they can get them to a questioning room so they can speak up for themselves instead of killing them and taking away the chance for them to explain their actions.
